 Koh Samui is totally untouched by the late Tsunami since its location inside the Gulf of Siam prevents it from any such occurrence.

| Koh Samui is located well on the Eurasian tectonic plate, not on any fault line and not on the course of any possible Tsunami coming from the pressure of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Protected on all fronts by land masses such as Java, Malaysia and the Thai-Malay Isthmus, Samui can not possibly experience such a terrible fate as Phuket did since the fault line lies south of Java.
As shown in the picture below, Koh Samui had always been spared by earthquakes in past.
